Steven P. Butterfield

Steven P. Butterfield, 45, of La Crosse died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse.

He was born July 31, 1962, in La Crosse to William Sr. and Phyllis (Shay) Butterfield. Steven graduated in 1980 from Central High School in La Crosse and continued his education at Western Wisconsin Technical College in woodworking. On Oct. 20, 1984, he married Cheryl Huerkamp at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse. Steven was employed by La Crosse Footwear for 15 years and for the next 10 years was an engineer for the BNSF Railroad. At the time of his death he was employed in quality control for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Tomah, Wis.

Steven is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his parents, Bill Sr. and Phyllis Butterfield; two sisters, Teresa (Mike) Konzen and Roxann (Vince) Kelly; one brother, Bill Butterfield Jr.; aunts, uncles; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Steven's life will be Thursday, March 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse. A rosary will be led by Fr. Lawrence Berger at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are preferred to Gundersen Lutheran Hospice program.
